University of California, San Diego

Established in 1960, the University of California, San Diego, or UCSD, is a public research university in La Jolla, California near the Pacific Ocean. UCSD offers over 200 undergraduate and graduate degree programs with an enrollment of about 23,000 undergraduate and 5,500 graduate students. Four research institutes are operated at UCSD, including the California Institute for Telecommunications and Information Technology, San Diego Supercomputer Center, Scripps Institution of Oceanography, and UC San Diego Medical Center. The Salk Institute, Burnham Institute for Medical Research, and the Scripps Research Institute are also affiliated with the university.
