As a flagship institution renowned for its research and academic rankings, the University of Houston offers over 300 degree programs in 12 colleges to over 40,000 students on its nearly 700 acre campus. Founded as a junior college in 1927, by October 1933, a resolution was adopted by the state officially declaring the University of Houston as a four-year university.
